The Importance of Guidance Counselling in Colleges of Further Education & Training Delivering the Holistic Model in FET
In October 2024, IGC President Catríona Rodgers, Vice President Colette Twomey and FET Convenor Aideen Lyster presented to the Dail in the AV room of Leinster House on the importance of the holistic model of guidance counselling being evident in the FET sector. Senator Mary Seery Kearney very kindly facilitated the session. Thanks to Siobhan McGrory of Jigsaw for their support.
The Key asking points are:
- The Holistic model is delivered in all FET colleges and the FE sector as a whole
- Counselling Referrals are made through the Guidance Department and Student Support Team
- FE College Guidance allocation to be improved.
