LAUNCH OF IGC’S PRE-BUDGET SUBMISSION AND SUMMARY 2025

On behalf of the National Executive I am pleased to share with you a copy of our Pre-Budget Submission and Summary. It has been shared with the Minister for Education – Norma Foley, Minister for DFHERIS – Patrick O’Donovan, the Minister for Public Expenditure – Paschal Donohoe, and the Minister for Finance – Michael McGrath.

It has also been shared with all our stakeholders and education partners as well as all media outlets in Ireland. The full Pre-Budget Submission and the Summary are available for download here.

Pre Budget Submission 2024

On behalf of the National Executive and members of the IGC, President Tadhg Crowley and Vice President Catríona Rodgers submitted the Pre Budget Submission 2024 to the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris at the launch of the new tertiary pathways on Friday 7th July.

It has been shared with Minister for Education Norma Foley, Minister for Public Expenditure, Paschal Donohoe, and Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath.

The IGC was invited to speak in the AV room in Leinster House, by Senator Roisin Garvey, on Wednesday 21st June 2023.

Our Vice President Catriona Rodgers, National Secretary Gerry Reilly, and IGC Researcher and Content Writer Dr Eimear Mc Donnell, attended and gave a presentation on Youth Mental Health and Guidance Services in Second Level Schools.

 The key focus of the presentation was 

    • Ex Quota status for guidance counsellors hour
    • To improve the guidance allocation

The motion was then presented by Roisin Garvey in the Seanad and was supported by all members of the Senate. The Government did not oppose the motion. Further information and wording of the motion, are available through the links below. Please engage with your local TD, Senators and Councillors on this issue.
